The Marina at American Wharf is a freshwater, upriver keystone, conveniently located near many of Connecticut’s most popular tourist destinations and offers gateways to several major northeast waterways.

The marina is located at the head of Thames River, and mouth of the Yantic River and Shetucket River in beautiful southeast CT. Head down the Thames for seamless access to the Atlantic via the Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound. Or head up the Shetucket River for beautiful views and links to the Quinebaug River and Aspinook Pond. Follow the Yantic river through other major Norwich locations.
MOHEGAN SUN & FOXWOODS CASINOS
Head south three miles to the west of the Thames to find Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort. The 10 minute ride from the Marina leads to gaming, shows, fine dining, shopping, hotel and spa and more growing attractions.
Just 10 miles and 15 minutes to the east of the Marina is Foxwoods Resort Casino for even more gaming, shows, relaxation, fine dining, shopping, and luxury hotel accommodations.
MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT
Located 15 miles and a 30 minute drive to the southeast of the Marina, downtown Mystic, Connecticut provides unmatched dining, shopping, and nightlife experiences. For historic attractions and sightseeing, head to Mystic Seaport for museums, tours, and the old seaport village.
LONG ISLAND SOUND
Set sail or motor south about 15 miles down the Thames River through Happyland, Uncassville, and Gales Ferry. Pass through New London and cruise by the sub base in Groton to enter the Long Island Sound. The mouth of the Thames puts you 18 miles due north of Montauk and five miles from Fishers Island.From there, the Atlantic is your oyster!
